Subtly Straighten Your Teeth

The Invisalign Process

The Smile Scan

If your dentist determines that Invisalign is a good fit for you, they will use Invisalign’s iTero Element scanner to create a 3D scan of your teeth. The scan produces a series of high-definition images that can be combined to create a 3D model of your teeth, which will be used as the blueprint for your custom aligners.

Once your 3D scan is complete and your aligners have been made, your dentist will ensure they fit correctly, answer your questions, and let you know what to expect. If everything fits properly, you can start wearing them as directed. Your dentist will schedule regular check-ins with you to pick up your next batch of aligners, check your progress, and make any necessary adjustments.

Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible when worn, which means you can continue your routine without interruption. Be sure to remove them when eating or drinking anything other than water, and always brush your teeth before putting them back in.

The length of treatment necessary to give you your desired results may vary depending on your case’s complexity. Start to see results in as little as a few weeks.

Your dentist will fit you for a Vivera retainer after your treatment is complete to keep your new smile. The Vivera retainers are custom-made and 30% stronger than other retainers to ensure your smile is kept just the way you want it.

Wear & Care For Your Aligners

Once you’ve been fitted for your aligners, you should expect to wear them for at least 22 hours a day. Each set of aligners should be worn for 1 to 2 weeks, depending on your unique treatment plan.

Every 6 to 8 weeks, you’ll be asked to check in with your dentist to check your progress and pick up a new batch of aligners. With every new set, you may feel some mild discomfort as your teeth adjust. Mild sensitivity and discomfort is normal and should not be cause for concern.

Caring for your aligners is easy:

  • Remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything besides water.
  • Always brush your teeth before putting your aligners in.
  • Gently rinse and brush your aligners before putting them in your mouth.
  • Use the Invisalign cleaning system regularly to keep your aligners free of bacteria.
  • Brush and floss your teeth normally to keep them clean and healthy.
