What to Expect From Your Appointment?
We’re proud to serve our patients in any way we can. But to ensure we’re providing the best care possible, please make sure you undergo regular dental exams and cleanings every 6 months, or as often as your dentist recommends.
Initial Consultation
When you first come for your appointment, we meet you in our waiting room before escorting you to the examination room. Your dentist will then have a detailed discussion with you regarding your oral health and overall health history.
This conversation helps your dentist determine if there are any issues you are at risk of developing and confirm that your medical history is up to date and correct. Please feel free to let your dentist know of any problems you are experiencing, as your input can help them customize the exam to your unique needs.
Once your dentist confirms your health history, it’s time to move on to the rest of the exam.
The Dental Exam
During the dental exam, your dentist may take x-rays. These images serve as an in-depth blueprint for some of your oral health needs, but your dentist will also evaluate your teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks, and roof of your mouth.
They will also look at the bones of your face and jaw and examine your neck area for signs of lymphs or nodes. This comprehensive examination can diagnose problems like missing or loose teeth, cavities, oral diseases, or bone structure issues.
Findings & Discussion
Following the exam, your dentist will provide you with their findings, including their recommendations for treatments and medications. If you are at all concerned about your oral health, please let our team know. We work our hardest to ensure your experience is as comprehensive and comfortable as possible.
The Cleaning
Teeth cleaning is essential for protecting your oral health, gums, tongue, cheeks, and more.
During the cleaning, your oral hygienist:
- Scales your teeth, a process that removes plaque and tartar from your teeth’s surface and around the gumline.
- Polishes and flosses your teeth, which helps remove any stains on your teeth’s surface and residue leftover in between your teeth.
- Applies a fluoride treatment on your teeth, which helps manage the risk of developing cavities.
